ER & My Husband

Baby, fetus at 28 weeks - BabyCenter
29 Weeks preggo today! I can't believe I am finally in the home stretch!! Not too much longer now, and we will be holding and oggling over our little Owen! Life is definitely getting more challenging coming into my third trimester. I'm getting pretty big, my back, knees, and feet hurt often, I am getting sleepy again, and a smidge swollen here and there.  However, I know it will all be worth it when I get to hold my baby!

My last blog was about my burning pain in my upper right abdomen.  I kept putting things off and thinking maybe I was over reacting, but on Friday I decided I better call the doctor.  My doctors office closes at 12 on Fridays so I left a message that morning explaining my concerns and then waited for someone to call me back. The NP called my back that afternoon and we talked a bit more about the symptoms I was having, side note: the NP from my doctors office is so incredibly nice, she was so helpful, understanding, she listened to me and made me feel like she really cared about what I was telling her! She decided it would be best for me to go straight to the ER and get evaluated to be sure that there wasn't any serious problems going on with my gallbladder or appendix. So I left work early and my mother in law went with me down to Ranch ER.  We got there around 2PM and saw the doctor at 2:45.  He wanted to run blood tests to check my liver, and do an ultrasound on my gallbladder to check for gallstones.  He checked the baby's heart beat and it was nice a strong! I was sent back to the waiting room to wait for my tests. I was called back for my blood work around 7PM... by this hour Jeff had arrived from work and was keeping me company in the waiting room. We got In-N-Out and scarfed down some burgers. I was thinking if I had gallstones the only thing you can do when preggo is eat an ultra low fat/ bland diet, if I had to do that I was going to indulge one last time! :) I was called back for my ultrasound around 9PM and we headed back. The lady was so nice and even though some of the prodding at my pain was uncomfortable, I made it through!  At the end of the ultrasound Jeff asked if we could see the baby, and she was so sweet to give us a peek at our boy!

His head was nestled down low... still! We were wondering if maybe he is stuck! His face was towards my back with his little hand in front, she was trying to get him to turn towards us so we could see his face, and he just wasn't having it. but for a couple of seconds he looked right at us and we saw his sweet little face! It didn't look like a scary skeleton picture either, it looked like a baby face! He looked so precious!! She said that he has just a little bit of hair on his head :) We saw his little toes moving around, and his heart beating nice and strong! He was absolutely beautiful! I was so glad that Jeff asked her to do that, and that she actually did! Getting to see him was so worth the wait!!

The doctor finally called me back around 10PM to let me know that, my blood tests looked great, and my gallbladder was free and clear of any stones! Thank you Jesus! He said that the burning pain is due to Gastritis, or inflammation of the stomach. He prescribed a more powerful, but completely safe, antacid.  I will start to take the meds tomorrow and see if they help!
I was so glad that I went, even though it took a really long time, I was happy to know that there was nothing seriously wrong with me, and that my little guy is doing just wonderfully!

It was a crazy night of waiting and waiting, but I was so glad and so thankful that I had this man to sit next to me. To make me laugh, and to get through the long night with!  Even though he wanted to just diagnose me and call it a night, he was patient and in good spirits! I have been so thankful for my husband lately! I have really been having a hard time and it seems like every time I turn around, I'm crying of something silly, stressed out over something small, exhausted from just an ordinary day, aching all over from being so HUGE, hungry for something good, sweaty from just a short walk, out of breath from the little boy growing inside of me, and spending most of my day in the bathroom! Jeff has been such an amazing husband, partner and best friend. He helps me out around the house, rubs my back with a tennis ball, picks up things when I drop them, and loves me unconditionally when I am a crazy mess of hormones. His hugs, kisses and love is more than I could want or need! I am just so thankful and so in love with this man! I can't wait to see him be a daddy!
Just needed to take a moment to brag on my man!
