chocolate chip cookies

I have a hilarious story for you all... pretend this bag does NOT say semi-sweet, but instead, unsweetened.

On Friday, my friend baked the most delicious chocolate chip cookies I have ever had in my whole life! Jeff, LOVES chocolate chip cookies so I got the recipe that she used and set out on an adventure to make these scrumptious dittys!

I went to Trader Joes to get some of the ingredients I didn't already have at home, one thing I needed was chocolate chips... I guess I wasn't really paying attention when I picked up the bag of UNSWEETENED baking chocolate.  I just figured, this must be TJ'S version of chocolate chips...

So, I get home, and pull out all of the yummy things to start making my cookies. who wouldn't be excited dumping 2 WHOLE sticks of butter, with sugar and more sugar into a bowl?? Let me also inform you that I do not have a fancy mixer, or even an electric hand mixer, so I did all of the mixing with my own to hands and a whisk!

A LOT of work went into these cookies.  I got everything mixed together, and now the good part, adding the chocolate. So I smashed it all up into "1 inch chunks..." and added it to the mix. Oh it was looking dreamy...

I popped a few in the oven, and even stood by to ensure they wouldn't burn... 10 minutes later I took them out (my oven bakes fast) they looked delicious!

I let them set for a minute and then the moment of truth, I picked one up and put it in my mouth...

DISGUSTING.

The chocolate was so gross. I went to the garbage and pulled out the bag, thinking what is this poop I put in my cookies...

"unsweetened"

So, I threw all of the dough out.  I was SO sad because I was really trying my hardest to make my hubby yummy cookies. :(

BUT, knowing that I am not always successful at homemade cookies, I picked up this beauty at TJ'S...

Stuck 6 of these in the oven, and my love still got some yummy cookies.

There you have it friends... this weekend I made some SICK cookies. I will try again, this time I will make sure I get "deliciously sweet" chocolate chips!
